Typealyzer Analyzes the Personality of the Psychology of Blogging Weblog

Can a blog have a personality. After all, it is written by a person and the person has a personality.

Tyepealzer is an online program that ventures to analyze the unique personality of a blog, based on the personality model of Carl Jung.

According to Typealyzer, this blog is a stolid hardworking type called the ISTJ. The "I" is for introverted so that the blog or author or both are more introverted than extroverts.

The Psychology of Blogging has an "N" which means that the personality ot the weblog relies more on se on its immediate sensations rather than on intuition. It lacks that "visioin thing.".

The "T" stands for thinking. This blog thinks rather than feels. Thanks a lot.

Finally the  J means that this blog relies more on judgment than perception. I'd have to go a nd look that one up.

One of them, Self Improvement Sites offers a top ten list of the 10 best personal development web logs on the web.

Blogging from My Psychology Graduate Program

I'm writing from Saybrook Graduate School and Research Institute's semi-annual Residential Conferece. The gathering is a requirement of matriculation through the school's grduate programs. You are required to attend these events until you are advanced to candidacy for your PhD.

I've been stuck in the twilght zone with that regard. I've been working on the same essay, a literature review about studying writers for the past three years. I am on a third draf. Each of the previous two drafts were extensivly revised.

Tedious is a good way to describe the process of writing this literature review. A literature review has the most references of any type of psycology paper and this one is no exception. Revising the paper required returning to the original sources for many of the references.

Add to the tasks already mentioned, the difficulty of working with a variety of PDF formats, some of which contain no text, ust an image  and the work becomes full of stops and starts.

What Keeps Us Clicking on Spam?

Here is an article which surprisingly opened me up to a whole new field of psychological study: called "Virtual Environments and Behavior" at one of my Alma Matters UC Santa Barbara (I got my Masters in Psychology there in 1981).

Here is an excerpt from the beginning of the EWeek piece:

Money is the motivation for scam-spam. The motivation for clicking on it is far less straightforward, and none of us is immune.

"It's not like certain people are going to be nailed by spam all the time. Or that there are certain motivations that will just [always] trigger people [who respond] to spam scams. It's really the interplay between personality and motivation, emotion—all sorts of things," said Dr. James Blascovich, professor of psychology at UC Santa Barbara and co-director of the university's Research Center for Virtual Environments and Behavior.

"It's a little more complex, but not much different from the complex interplay of psychological factors that get people to succumb to any sort of scam."

The idea that none of us are immune is the main takeaway from a report titled "Mind Games: A psychological analysis of common e-mail scams," that Blascovich and McAfee published on June 25 . . .
