Having just headed into a decade of my life, the idea of slowing the aging process becomes increasingly more interesting. Here is a log with a variety of topics and resources around this theme. Here is how the blog describes itself:

Aging is an enemy. It saps our strength, cripples and eventually kills us. The lack of information, advocacy and awareness of anti-aging and healthy life extension research is a terrible thing. Much of the general public thinks of aging as inevitable and natural, rather than as a medical condition that may one day be curable.

Comparatively few people know that the effects of aging can be slowed with diet and lifestyle choices, just as for many other medical conditions. Presently ongoing research aimed at repairing known types of age-related cellular damage - aimed at true rejuvenation, in other words - does not receive the widespread publicity and support it deserves.

I had been wanting to see this documentary since hearing that it was listed in a Venice Film Festival. I found the entire video via a link supplied by George Douvaris on a large documentary archive which I posted about previously. Here is what the Amazon review says about this film.

Orignal Post: My friend Michael Goseny is getting set to put on another of his famous Digital Be-Ins. Here is the announcement of the event which is scheduled to be held in San Fransisco on April 22:

Welcome to The Earth Day Be-In, celebrating the further evolution of the digital revolution: building a sustainable culture.

Digital Be-In 14, this year on Earth Day 2006, is a timely convergence of the San Francisco Bay Area’s forward thinking technologists – and the advanced cyberculture they have fostered – with the vanguard of the sustainable culture movement represented by the region’s huge concentration of green start-ups, environmental non-profit groups and conscious consumers.

The Earth Day Be-In is combination symposium, exhibition, rally and multimedia entertainment extravaganza featuring a range of presentations focused on sustainability solutions, with some of San Francisco’s top “conscious music” acts, DJs, and visual and performance artists.

The "Planet Code part is explained this way:"

This year’s Be-In theme “Planet Code” implies our writing (and re-writing where necessary) the “codes” that define our place within and interaction with the natural environment, and calls upon the high technology community we have encouraged and celebrated over the years to empower the sustainability movement with bold, forward-thinking initiatives.

I didn't make it to last year's Digital Be-In, the first time I have missed one since they began. I hope to be there for the be-in this year.

Update: I will be on a "special panel discussing the influence of the Acid Tests on art, music, and culture" at 6:30 at this event. The music starts at 8PM. I was also told that Rick Doblin will be on the panel but I'm not sure who else but presumably some people from the original Pranksters. This "acid test anniversary" is happening in the town I live, Las Vegas, Nevada. I got sent a link to this event by my friend George Douvris and bought a couple of tickets as soon as I saw their site. I was in Vegas the last time pranksters were here with their trusty bus Further  back in 1994.

The second edition of my book, Ecstasy: The MDMA Story came out that year so I was invited to sit at the Ron in Publishing Booth along with Leary and Steven Gaskin.

It was the year that Kesey was driving Further to Washington DC so it could be placed in the Smithsonian. Either the original bus or a replica drove up to the Las Vegas Convention Center with Kesey, his Prankster partner Babbs, Timothy Leary and his wife Barbara and Mountain Girl. It was a historical encore for those leading figures in the Sixties counterculture.

Kesey and Leary are both gone now but I would certain wish their spirits show up at the Beach nightclub for this Reunion -- along with some of their original Electric Kool-Aide.

ultra-Violet Art in Vegas

Ever since I read about the ultra Violet art of feather on Tribe.Net, I have been wanting to get over to his downtown gallery.

Las Vegas has had bit of an art renaissance recently with its First Friday. I've become something of a hermit and a recluse since I moved here from Santa Cruz Calfiornia. And if you have been reading my blog, yhou know that it has been a cold and rainy winter here in Vegas. Lots of excuses not to go out. Bbut the same collective of people that have been putting on the Blacklight art (the idea of blackligh art takes me back to my days as a hippie where we frequently visited blacklight rooms in headshops to "freak freely) -- the same collective is going to put on an LSD Parade during the Las Vegas Centenial in May. It will be warm but not too warm out in May and I will have to at least watch what they do if not partipate.

You Shop As You Vote -- Walmart Vs. Costco -- Costco's Winning

Shop the Vote Wal-Mart = Bush. Costco = Kerry. Costco's Winning By Daniel Gross is an insightful political piece. I had a chance to see John Kerry speak yesterday here in Las Vegas at the UNLV's basketball stadium packed with an estimated 15,000. I did not have to show my Costco card but I do have one. But I live half a mile from one of those super-sized Walmarts, the ones that look like airplane hangers. I joke half seriously about how someday we will be born with a shopping cart in our hands at a Walmart maternity center, make our way through the aisles until many years later we die and get a roll-back special on a funeral. Then we check out.
