A Slow WiFi Hello from Burning Man 2006

This is the first Internet connection I have had in several days. I arrieved at Burning Man almost three days ago. I spent a lot of time the first two days watching some of the many talks at the Enthon Village.
Its been 8 years since I last attended Burning Man and a decade since my first visit to the annual celebration. In the time betaken my first visit and the current event, the size and scope of the event has exploded. It has also transitioned from chaos community, resembling more an experimental, countercultureal artistic communiuty and less a giant party.
That is not to say that the current vsrsion of Burning Man lacks a celebratory element, It may be a countercultural city but it is a city populated by partiers and revelers. But instead of coach potatos and passive stoners, the Burning Man crew activly cocreate their experience.

Burning Man is held each year in the Black Rock desert. It is moved a slight distance from the previous years location to a nearby plot of playa. This land is much like my fantasy of what the moons surface is like, impressions you get from photos of the moon. No crators but cracked mud, rock and dust.
It is the dust that can grab your attenion. Ocationally up blows a storm of dust which can shrink your visitbilyt to almost zero, pack your lungs with dust and layer fine particles
These same particles cover my screen of the laptop I am writing this on. It is also the dust that has kept me from returning to Burning Man, the last time I was here, there was dust storm which lasted for 9 hours. The longest one on this visit has not lasted more than an hour.
During the past couple of days, I have hung out at the Entheon Village. On my previous visit to Burning Man, Entheon Village was one big dome tent. This time, it is a complex of tents including an awesome Temple of the Scared Mirrors filled with the art and spirt of Alex Grey.
